Asleep is a video work that explores the relationship between states of asleep and awake, and memories.  A visual exploration of Emma-Sofie's own summer memories, the work has been filmed in the area of her family's summer house and reflects around hazy afternoons when your mind has drifted off, long evenings when you never quite seem to get sleepy and barefoot explorations of a place that has always been familiar.

As with other of her works, Asleep makes use of magical realism to explore the inner thoughts, emotions and memories of an individual.  The aspect of sleep challenges the perception of time, asks whether memories are any less present than the current moment, or whether dreams are any less real than our moments awake. ​
